How to switch between HTML and plain text in Mozilla Thunderbird

I'm no fan of HTML mails at all: Emails should be short and informative. If I need something that is desinged, it can be attached as PDF. And so my Thunderbird is configured to compose/send plain-text mails by default.

The last c't contained a tipp on how to enable HTML for one single mail - without changing the default configuration of Thunderbird. It's pretty simple:

Just hold down the Shift-key while clicking on the "compose new mail" button to switch to HTML mode.

This works also vice-versa: if you send HTML-Mails by default, holding down the shift-key when starting a new mail will switch to plain-text mode.

I'm almost sure this is written in Thunderbird's manual - but I've never read it...
