I started loving Subversion

I started loving Subversion (SVN) last night while committing code for a new feature for the Seminar Manager.

It was the first bigger changeset I wanted to commit to the SVN repository at SourceForge. Besides that SourceForge's SVN repository is extremely slow, SVN is really cool!

Before I worked with CVS, where it was a problem if another developer changed the code in the CVS Repository, while I was working on my local copy. When committing, there where problems merging the conflicting files. Mostly I had to do it manually.

Now with SVN this works absolutely great! Of course, the same problem with conflicting files occur. But Subversion can merge most of the stuff automatically. The only need to do anything manually is when another dev changed the same line(s) in the same file as I did. But Subclipse gives me some tools that make even this case easy.

So my opinion for the moment is: Subversion ist great!
